Easter with toddlers: 3 simple, fun and age-appropriate activities

Easter is a magical time for children… and even for the very youngest! With its pastel colours, little animals and the arrival of spring, it’s the perfect time to introduce early learning activities that are gentle, fun and tailored to their pace.

No need for complicated materials or meticulous planning: at this age, it’s mainly sensory discoveries, simple actions and shared moments that matter.

Here are 3 ideas for easy-to-organise activities to celebrate Easter with the little ones.

1. The “Easter-themed” sensory painting activity

A must-try activity… reimagined for little ones.

The idea? To encourage free painting based on Easter motifs: eggs, rabbits or chicks. There’s no need to strive for perfection; here, it’s all about exploration.

How to :

  • Cut out large shapes (eggs, rabbits, etc.)
  • Use suitable paint (finger paint or edible paint for younger children)
  • Let the child dab, spread and experiment

Why does it work? :
Painting helps develop fine motor skills and the senses, whilst encouraging creativity, even in the youngest children.

Rockids tip: for a ‘stress-free’ version, slip the sheet into a sealed plastic sleeve — your baby can paint without getting dirty!

2. The mini sensory treasure hunt

Forget those complicated, large-scale egg hunts: it’s time for a gentler, more manageable version.

The idea is to hide a few “surprise eggs” that are easy to catch in a safe area (living room, garden, play mat, etc.).

Inside :

  • coloured fabrics
  • small, light objects
  • items that make a noise (crinkly paper, bells, etc.)

Why it’s perfect for toddlers :
They explore with their hands, discover different textures and develop their curiosity, without any pressure to perform.

Rockids tip: use just 3 to 5 hiding places to keep the fun intact without overstimulation.

3. The Easter basket to explore

A simple activity… but one that’s fascinating for little ones.

Prepare a basket filled with Easter-themed items and let your child rummage through it freely.

À glisser dedans :

  • œufs en bois ou en plastique
  • petites peluches (lapin, poussin…)
